Sealed vs singles divergence after rip waves
The Pokémon Company International / Gamespress · Source
After Ascended Heroes rip scarcity, singles velocity picked up on Mega and illustration-rare names. Sealed versus singles divergence is the frame this Monday — not a broad buy call on every chase print.
How the market was
Mid-spring often splits the tape in two. Where sealed ran scarce off Ascended Heroes rip demand, the singles tape showed velocity on Mega and IR names from a May 5 report: Mega Dragonite March average about ~$56.67, Mega Gengar March about ~$92, Psyduck IR about ~$81.82. Confidence is high on those prints as the velocity story — not as a claim that every modern single is heating.
Sealed still matters underneath. Tight ASC sealed is part of why singles can print velocity without the sealed row looking soft. The read is divergence: scarce sealed, faster singles on named Mega / IR lanes. Demote thin IR spikes that lack volume.
Week over week vs Issue 05, the geography split stays true (don’t blend JP Mega Dream into EN ASC), and the new lead is sealed-scarce → singles velocity up.
