Reported hobby drama: Named press this week documents 30th Celebration big-box line violence and a Lisbon CT restock punch (arrest still unconfirmed on the blotter), plus ICv2’s flipper Discord meltdown after singles cratered — a retail-chaos companion, not a sealed rewrite. Issue 18
Rip settle week
Pitch Black settled further on sealed while singles “tumbled immediately” in TCGPlayer framing — classic post-rip settle. Ascended Heroes held as keep-sealed money beside that split.
Issue 17
Main-set supply overtakes
Pitch Black Elite Trainer Box clears stepped down hard and Chaos Rising boxes cooled further. Main-set supply is overtaking the premium summer print — a supply story, not a call to chase the dump.
Issue 16
Special-set vs main-set split
Special-set Elite Trainer Boxes held while Pitch Black printed early clears and presale heat into a mid-July street. Bifurcation — special-set money versus main-set supply — not one tape.
Issue 15
First sustained CR BB cool
Mid-summer sealed — Ascended Heroes ETBs held the mid-$160s/$170s while Chaos Rising boxes stepped down off the May/June premium. No 30th Celebration product this week.
Issue 14
ASC softens, CR holds
Ascended Heroes Elite Trainer Boxes softened while Chaos Rising booster boxes stayed hot. June sealed still had CR boxes elevated and Ascended Heroes packs printing huge quantity — selective cool, not a Chaos Rising crash.
Issue 13
Mid-era still the mover
No broad “modern mass cool” crash showed up this Monday. Mid-era bids stayed the stronger mover story, while Ascended Heroes Elite Trainer Boxes and Chaos Rising booster boxes held elevated. Selective cool beats a blanket headline.
Issue 12
Reprint risk vs premium sealed
The Pokémon Company commentary on max print runs, shortages, and reprints tied to Destined Rivals and Prismatic was still in the air. Chaos Rising sealed stayed premium mid-June anyway. Chatter is not a sealed crash — and this Monday’s book refused to pretend otherwise.
Issue 11
Summer sealed hold
Summer sealed stayed elevated into early June. Chaos Rising booster boxes softened a notch off the early-June print, while Ascended Heroes Elite Trainer Boxes held firm in the high $170s. Premium sealed — with a slight cool on the new-set box, not a dump.
Issue 10
Alt-art thin books
Chaos Rising sealed held elevated into early June — and the louder mover tape this Monday sat in mid-era and alt-art singles with thin books. Launch premium on boxes is one story. Illustration rares and SARs clearing hard on light depth is another. Both showed up at once.
Issue 09
Chaos Rising launch week
Chaos Rising street date hit May 22. By this Monday the sealed tape had already rewritten the May leadership board: Chaos Rising booster boxes took the sealed #1 slot, while Ascended Heroes packs kept printing enormous quantity underneath. Launch week is when “new set on the shelf” separates from “new set that actually cleared.”
Issue 08
Rotation toward Chaos Rising
Set GMV still had Ascended Heroes on top for Apr 18–May 17. Rotation toward Chaos Rising was visible on presales anyway, with the May 22 street date imminent. Quantity leadership and incoming print are not the same story — track both.
Issue 07
Event-spike week
Textbook thin-spike week. Prismatic Evolutions SPC buyout concentration and 151 Booster Bundles printed loud. Chaos Rising shows on set GMV from presales only — street date still May 22. Any “30th anniversary” promo chatter is not the Celebration set.
Issue 06
Sealed scarce, singles velocity
After Ascended Heroes rip scarcity, singles velocity picked up on Mega and illustration-rare names. Sealed versus singles divergence is the frame this Monday — not a broad buy call on every chase print.
Issue 05
JP vs EN split
English Ascended Heroes chase stayed elevated into late April. Japanese Mega Dream sealed is a different tape. This Monday is about labeling the split — not pasting JP heat onto English Ascended Heroes asks.
Issue 04
Binder staples and selective chase
Money rotated into binder and lower sealed plus selective Destined Rivals chase — not only trophy Ascended Heroes SARs. Two markets on one Monday: playable / binder demand versus speculative trophy chase.
Issue 03
Main-set soft vs special-set money
Macro week more than a clean SKU tape. Perfect Order read soft versus Ascended Heroes / Prismatic money. Prefer that bifurcation over an “older chase cooling” headline — ASC is still climbing in the weeks around this Monday, and forced movers would be invention.
Issue 02
Thin spikes ≠ depth
Not a quiet chase week. Mega Charizard Y and related Ascended Heroes SARs printed buyout heat. Read liquidity so a spike doesn’t look like a deep book — Ascended Heroes remains the sealed lead underneath the noise.
Issue 01
Ascended Heroes
March sealed centered on Ascended Heroes — with Mega chase SARs printing loud underneath. Prismatic stays in the stack; it is not the main story this week.
